Established Bank is currently hiring for a qualified accountant with strong IAS39 experience to join their London Hedge Accounting team. This role has been created through an internal move and is an ideal opportunity for a hedge accounting candidate looking for a new challenge or a Big 4 Manager level candidate seeking their first move into industry.
Responsibilities:
- Management of desk volatility through an understanding of available risk and available hedge accounting approaches
- Key partner within the Treasury function to understand upcoming business and any accounting volatility implications
- Performing hedge accounting through identification, documentation, effectiveness testing and accounting for bespoke hedge accounting packages
- Summarising the hedge accounting impact in Treasury management reporting and the Group's statutory reporting
- Demonstrate compliance within the Group's various risk frameworks, accounting requirements and to other interested parties (e.g. external audit)
- Continuously seeking new areas for process improvements across the treasury department.
Requirements:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with post qualified experience from a banking hedge accounting role or Big 4 Consultancy auditing a treasury desk in a bank - Essential
- Strong understanding of IAS 39, specifically hedge accounting rules and application
- Good knowledge of banking products and the accounting for financial instruments
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
- Strong academic background - minimum 2:1 degree
This role involves regular interaction with key stakeholders at all levels including the Regional Treasurer and it is therefore essential you have strong interpersonal skills. The position offers realistic progression to a managerial role in the future and a hybrid flexible working environment with 2 days in the office.
