Eames Consulting are currently working with a leading Global Insurance Syndicate who are looking to hire a Risk Manager for a new role in their team.


The successful candidate will cover specialty line - financial lines, credit and professional risks. This role will also cover operational resiliency and will get involved in improving the internal controls for these lines of business. This role will have some staff responsibilities and we are looking for a candidate with minimum 5 yrs Risk experience in the Lloyds market.

The main purpose of the role is to take shared ownership of the day-to-day maintenance of all the qualitative elements of the risk management framework, with some quantitative work included. This role requires significant direct interaction with the business, requiring the individual to demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with each of the Specialty underwriters, ensuring that their risk profiles and control frameworks are understood, working effectively and are documented.
  • Assume day-to-day responsibility for the risk and governance elements of Operational Resilience, including scenario testing and annual self-assessment process, within the BAU framework.
  • Develop the risk framework to ensure it continues to reflect best market practice.
  • Shared management and responsibility of quarterly risk register review process and maintenance of related documentation, focusing on Specialty underwriting lines of business, Strategic and Financial risks and controls.
  • Assisting Head of Risk with maintenance of the Emerging Risks register and framework, including performing deep dive reviews.
  • Shared management of conducting the operational risk scenario analysis process for their International entity.
  • Shared management of the non-technical aspects of validation, including production of non-technical validation report.
  • Assist Head of Risk with production of ORSA reports for each entity.
  • Produce risk reports for Risk and Capital Management Committee.
  • Review and update, where necessary, qualitative risk documentation.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required by the business.

Skills Required:

  • Prior experience within the insurance sector within industry experience, within a Risk/second line function. This role has both qualitative and quantitative responsibilities (approximate split 90%/10% respectively).
  • Educated to degree level and/or relevant professional qualification, e.g. Institute of Risk Management, CII.
  • Strong analytical, written and communication skills.
  • Strong management, organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Effectively operate in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  • Effectively operate on a remote/home-working basis.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience of using risk software is advantageous.
