  • This role constitutes a market-facing production underwriting position within a tight-knit team of highly motivated and productive individuals. Your responsibilities include underwriting both new and renewal business and cultivating relationships with key customers to achieve collective team objectives. While collaborative teamwork is crucial, you should also possess the ability to think independently and offer solution-oriented insights. A willingness to advocate for positive change, a goal-driven mindset, and an enjoyment of a fast-paced work environment are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to meeting annual department goals for profitability, renewal retention, new business growth, and rate increases.
  • Evaluate risks for acceptability within established underwriting guidelines.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate decisions with producers and respond effectively to ensuing inquiries.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with clients, producers, co-workers, and external vendors.
  • Respond to submissions and servicing items within agreed-upon company time frames.
  • Act within the scope of authority and consistently with company and corporate objectives, guidelines, policies, and practices.
  • Ensure effective communications within the area of responsibility.
  • Communicate and provide instruction and information to Administrative Supervisor and/or Underwriting Assistants for issuing policies and endorsements.
  • Pursue educational classes such as Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and/or Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), as agreed upon with management.
  • Handle additional duties and special assignments, as requested by the manager.

Qualifications

  • Four-year BS/BA
  • Minimum of three years of experience underwriting Cyber/Tech E&O.
  • Experience with the Microsoft suite of products.
  • Travel Expectations - While future travel expectations are undetermined at this time, you may travel up to 10% of the time both locally and out of state.
  • Knowledge of forms, procedures, and insurance terminology
  • Result- and profit-oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or government insurance regulations
  • Possess and apply broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable areas of the company's business to proactively respond to a changing business environment

  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using the Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)

Salary and Location

  • The actual base income offered for this position will be depending on a number of criteria, including the applicant's degree of experience and skill set. This range is only an estimate. The reasonable estimate for this position is between $100,000 and $140,000 annually.
  • This position is eligible for hybrid or remote working capabilities, determined by the hiring manager's discretion based on location, experience, and other factors.
