We are looking for an energetic and effective leader to oversee a team of technical attorneys responsible for managing litigation and intricate, high-value claims in the areas of cyber, media, and technology errors and omissions. The role involves evaluating legal pleadings, documents, and relevant statutes to assess the legitimacy of complex liability claims. While focusing on claims under Cyber and Technology Errors & Omissions policies, the position may also involve handling top tier claims and overseeing other claims teams in specialty insurance products, with a particular emphasis on coverage considerations being an advantageous skill.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide a team of technical attorneys specializing in Cyber, Media, and Technology Errors & Omissions claims, managing the team's workflow and coordinating their activities.
  • Develop and coach staff to ensure effective claims handling, fostering a team-oriented environment with established goals for both team and individuals through empowerment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, quality reviews, and provide training opportunities while communicating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Analyze coverage and interpret policy wording, oversee investigations, and assess liability for complex claims, delegating authority to direct reports for coverage position letters, negotiations, and resolutions.
  • Manage the litigation process for high-exposure liability claims, negotiate settlements within defined authority limits, and recommend resolutions for claims exceeding limits.
  • Implement processes to enhance productivity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, oversee outside counsel and vendors, stay updated on industry trends and regulations, attend relevant conferences and hearings, and provide supervision and guidance to less experienced Claims personnel.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) required
  • Four years experience in Cyber, Media, and Tech E&O products with expertise in litigation, coverage, and claims handling.
  • Three years of leadership experience
  • Claims Adjuster's License(s) preferred
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and the ability to apply principles, practices, and procedures effectively.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, emphasizing confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Showcase superior organizational and analytical abilities, demonstrating proficiency in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Stay informed about industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments relevant to the company's business area, enabling proactive responses to a dynamic business environment.
  • Possess advanced proficiency and experience in utilizing the Microsoft Office package, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word.

Location and Compensation

This position is eligible for either hybrid or remote work access according to manager discretion. Office locations include:

  • Compensation for this role varies according to geographic location, candidate experience, and other factors. The reasonable expected range for compensation is between $155,000-$215,000 with additional bonuses according to company and individual performance.
