Job Description

A highly reputable Lloyd’s Managing Agency is looking to appoint a senior compliance manager. The increasing cost of regulation and its impact on the firm’s competitiveness means that a high-performing compliance function is a necessity for longer term commercial growth. My client is recognised as one of the most innovative, reliable and customer friendly Lloyd’s underwriters in the industry. They have an outstanding underwriting team who have a reputation for going above and beyond and need a highly respected compliance manager to steer them through the quagmire of regulation.

This position is ideally suited to somebody who is ready to take that next step from BAU compliance into senior management.  It will suit a strategic thinker who is creative and flexible rather than monochromatic or stubborn. The role will report into the MD but also have a dotted line into the group head of risk & compliance; so if you are looking for a deputy head of role or have ambitions on becoming a head of compliance then this would be the perfect opportunity.

You will be responsible for embedding the development and operation of an effective compliance framework for the agency and its managed syndicates. One of your first acts would also be to recruit an effective team below you in order to maintain a credible presence within the business and ensure the annual CMP is delivered.

My client is ideally looking for a compliance professional with London Market experience and who has a proven track record of applying their regulatory knowledge in a Lloyd’s business (either an insurer or broker). However, if you have not necessarily worked within a Lloyd’s of London business but still feel you have relevant skills within another London Market insurer then please still feel free to get in touch. What are of greater importance are your interpersonal skills, ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships as well as your credibility to deal at senior levels.

Key skills overview

  • Extensive London Market compliance experience
  • Sound knowledge of PRA, FCA and Lloyd’s regulatory requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and can build relationships quickly
  • Credibility to deal at senior levels within the business as well as the PRA and FCA
