UK markets experience essential and tier 2 sponsorship is not possible.

An impressive lower mid-market private equity fund with AUM of c£5bn has recently launched a private credit strategy and is seeking an experienced financial modelling and/or investment analyst with knowledge of private credit markets for a newly created role. This position will report into the CFO but will spend the majority of time with the investment team.

Whilst the initial focus will be on adding quantitative expertise to the investment team to model returns and evaluate prospective credit investment opportunities, the role will require the individual to demonstrate an open, enthusiastic, and supportive style in engaging with the Business and to show innovation in the ways to interrogate and report on data and evaluate investment opportunities.

Strong communication skills, including the ability to distil complex credit/modelling concepts to non-financial audience is a must.

The ideal profile would be someone from another credit fund and/or from a professional services or advisory background with some exposure to private credit based deals and roughly 5 years or equivalent experience. ACA/CA or CFA desirable too.

Responsibilities:

Analysing investment opportunities

  • Upfront reviews of investment prospects alongside the investment team ("returns analyses")
  • Proactive what if analysis and sensitivity analysis
  • Assisting in preparation of clear and straightforward reports/analysis ensuring that outputs are interpreted in an intelligent manner that offers insight and takes account of the commercial context

Modeling Returns

  • Strong Excel modelling skills a must
  • Strong quantitative and problem solving skills
  • Ability to self review important (does the output of this model make sense)
  • Keep it simple; analyses the deal without over-complicating

Communication Skills

  • Confidence when explaining model inputs and outputs internally and with prospective investees
  • Collaboration is a key part of the job, as are giving presentations and sharing information amongst peers

Assisting the investment team with strategic projects including:

  • Analysis of competitors and competitive landscape including benchmarking, ongoing monitoring of investment performance against benchmarks/competitors
  • Ad-hoc analysis of business performance, results and forecasts

The fund themselves are a down to earth, sociable and high performing outfit who have been operating in private markets for 10 years plus. Roughly 30 people in the London office altogether and with an impressive track record of staff retention and progression.

Salary is in the region of £80-90,000 base plus benefits and a healthy bonus. Hybrid working and Piccadilly location.
