Job Description

The Client Services Team (CST) is a core function within the global institutional banking (“GIB”) covering three main aspects of the business namely AML/KYC, client management and credit administration for GIB customers including sovereigns, banks, funds and insurance and institutional banking customers. CST Asia acts as the first line for GIB customers and is accountable for managing AML/KYC risk for the Asia portfolio.

As a senior associate in this regional team you will mainly be responsible for the onboarding of new clients to support the business growth of the GIB initiatives in Asia, manage the KYC status of existing customers that are valid and up-to- date. You are also required to have constant liaison with relevant stake holders (relationships team, products partners, compliance etc) to foster a smooth onboarding process.

This role is based in Hong Kong and is expected to support the KYC process of other regional branches in Singapore, Japan, China and India.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and sign off KYC files for GIB customers in Asia.
  • Manage the on-boarding activities, track outstanding matters and facilitate the KYC process so that customer due diligence (“CDD”) and ongoing customer due diligence (“OCDD”) are performed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Oversee proper execution of accounts establishment and removal. Accountable for the data quality of customer information in the systems.
  • Ensure proper records of KYC trackers and connecting parties list are maintained for internal and external audit inspection.
  • Comply with the external regulations, internal policies and all applicable compliance obligations relevant to position holder’s existing work responsibilities, duties, work practices and conduct.
  • Escalate any problem, issue or risk which could potentially have a significantly negative impact on any aspect of business operations or the level and quality of service provided to customer.
  • Build a strong working relationship with the global client services team and enhance alignment to the group model in terms of work practices and risk culture.
  • Provide training and share knowledge to GIB team.
  • Lead or assist with ad-hoc AML/regulatory and remediation projects.
  • Provide day to day advices to business units, liaise with other members of the wider GIB team (ie RM, operations, compliance etc) to resolve any on boarding issues.

Experience:

  • 5+ years sound knowledge in regulation and AML policies and procedures with corporate and/or institutional banking
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Cantonese
  • Proactive and team focused attitude
  • Proficient in Microsoft office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with a minimum of undergraduate degree.
